It seems like every month we have a vehicle towed into our shop for a no start condition due to a battery that has failed due to differed maintenance. So what can you do to maintain and extend the life of your battery.  We suggest customers bring there vehicles in at least every 6 months to have vehicle health inspection performed which includes testing and inspection of the battery.  Ensure there is no corrosion present, battery terminals are tight, there is no leakage present and the cold cranking amps are within spec.  Always turn off lights and accessories when the vehicle is turned off.  Make sure the battery has a secure hold down.  Try to keep the battery in a cool place, heat kills batteries.  Always make sure you are following safety and handling procedures when handling battery's

The Courtesy Inspection is a “visual” inspection and takes approximately 30 minutes to perform. The technician will look for obvious problems, such as lights that are out, tires that look low on air, leaks, frayed wiper blades, belts that are cracked, fluids, corroded battery terminals, a dirty air filter, and other easily-spotted issues. This inspection is preformed every time a customer brings their vehicle in for service. In some states Vehicle inspection is a procedure mandated by national or subnational governments, in which a vehicle is inspected to ensure that it conforms to regulations governing safety, emissions, or both. When your car's check engine light comes on in your instrument cluster, it's usually accompanied by a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. The light could be a minor issue, such as a faulty gas cap, or it could mean something more serious, such as a misfiring engine. In many cases, it means that you'll have to determine if it is necessary to repair the issue after a proper diagnosis has been completed. Some people may feel that an Automotive parts supplier may be able to diagnose a check engine light and recommend a fix. They will scan the vehicle, print off a long list of items that may be wrong with your vehicle. Then they will start selling you parts that may or may not fix the problem.
